A tough Long Hill team came to town tonight and spoiled Westfield's home opener by posting an 11 - 5 victory over the Blue Devils. Westfield scattered 11 hits across 6 innings but was unable to put together any sustained scoring threat. They picked up 1 run in the first, second and fourth innings and 2 in the fifth. Long Hill was persistent with their scoring, putting 10 runs on the board through four innings.
The team plays a double header on Saturday. At 10 am the team travels to Union for a Central Jersey league game and then on to Cranford for a 1st round tournament game at 3 pm.
